In a quiet village between Durham and Bishop Auckland, with private entrance from an ancient lane leading to the River Wear, with no through traffic, this cottage provides a cosy and peaceful base from which to explore the beautiful Durham Dales – Weardale & Teesdale with their the historical splendour and industrial past. Keilder Water, Hadrian’s Wall ,the Northumberland coast and Lake District for longer days out.

Thomas Wright House, our licensed village restaurant with heated terrace and large garden area is dog friendly. We serve meals Thursday to Sunday booking always advisable – we’re popular ! Also breakfast by arrangement.

Cottage Description

Ground floor: Five steps with double handrail to entrance. Separate living room, wooden floor & rug has woodburning stove; wall mounted Smart TV with Netflix. Kitchen/diner with wooden floor. Utility space with washer/dryer. Family bathroom with shower over bath, basin and toilet.

First floor: Two bedrooms with beamed ceilings. Master has king bed; ensuite with waterfall shower, basin & toilet. Second bedroom has super king bed or can be presented as 2 singles.
